I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials for Southwest Airlines new slogan, transfarency meaning low fares with nothing to hide. Not only that but Southwest allows two free checked bags and the ability to cancel or change your flight without paying any fees. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Southwest also offers one of the best deals in travel, the coveted Companion Pass.

Companion Pass package

The Companion Pass allows you to designate a companion to fly with you on any Southwest flight for free. It’s like happy hour for flights! Your companion will fly free with you for the remainder of the calendar year in which you receive companion status as well as the entire next year. And the best part is you can even book your flights with points and still be eligible to bring a companion along for free.

So how do you get this Companion Pass? You must earn 110,000 Southwest Rapid Reward points or fly 100 one-way flights on Southwest in one calendar year. Unless you are a frequent business traveler it is pretty unrealistic to qualify by flying 100 times.  And you may be thinking, how am I ever going to earn 110,000 Southwest Rapid Reward points? Well Points Travelers have a found an easy solution….credit card sign up bonuses!

The 3 types of cards

The 3 types of cards

Southwest currently offers three Visa credit cards, including two personal cards (Premier and Plus) and a Business card. If you sign up for the Premier and/or Plus card and spend $2,000 in the first 3 months you will receive a bonus of 50,000 Southwest Rapid Reward points! Sign up for the Premier Card here. At the moment, the Plus Card is only available via referral, so email us at contact@pointstravelers.com and we will send you the information you need.  If you own a business or are thinking about starting one, the Business Card is also offering the exact same promotion. Just by signing up for two of these credit cards and meeting the minimum spending requirements on both you have just earned yourself 104,000 Southwest Rapid Reward points. Now you only need to earn 6,000 more points. This can be done by using your Southwest Visa card for everyday spending, bills and even student loans. You earn 1 point for every $1 spent and 2 points for every $1 spent specifically on Southwest Airlines. Before you know it you will be at 110,000 Southwest Rapid Reward points and the next lucky holder of a Southwest Companion Pass.
