I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials for Southwest Airlines new slogan, transfarency meaning low fares with nothing to hide. Not only that but Southwest allows two free checked bags and the ability to cancel or change your flight without paying any fees. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Southwest also offers one of the best deals in travel, the coveted Companion Pass.

The Companion Pass allows you to designate a companion to fly with you on any Southwest flight for free. It’s like happy hour for flights! Your companion will fly free with you for the remainder of the calendar year in which you receive companion status as well as the entire next year. And the best part is you can even book your flights with points and still be eligible to bring a companion along for free.

So how do you get this Companion Pass? You must earn 110,000 Southwest Rapid Reward points or fly 100 one-way flights on Southwest in one calendar year. Unless you are a frequent business traveler it is pretty unrealistic to qualify by flying 100 times.  And you may be thinking, how am I ever going to earn 110,000 Southwest Rapid Reward points? Well Points Travelers have a found an easy solution….credit card sign up bonuses!
